The album description mentions an “emotional apex.” That’s really the difference between Stare and the band’s previous albums. Ulcerate was always supremely technically proficient. I just didn’t care all that much. Their growth has come from making music you will feel. Metallurgical Fire

What a beautiful, haunting experience all around, always melts me from start to finish. Incredible and deep sound, amazing atmosphere and cohesion, unexpected jazz elements unlike anything I've heard, and don't get me started on the vocals. Really hard to choose a favorite track. dan-rod

This album careens with raw emotion, overwhelming and delicate, sharp as an obsidian edge. Bursts of color and smothering weight. Strong hints in my mind of Cicada the Burrower’s fantastic release. pinkytheent

Extremely atmospheric and quite varied, but not as polished as their later work. Still stands well on its own though. At first I was weirded out by the short instrumental tracks, but now I *really* dig them. dan-rod
